Dear Huntley 158 staff and families:

Last night (10/23), the board of education held two special board meetings. At the first meeting, in-person interviews were conducted with all nine candidates who applied for a vacant seat on the board. The board was overwhelmed by the dedication and passion shown by these individuals and community members who are committed to serving as volunteers on the Huntley 158 school board. The board will be discussing the candidate interviews during closed session at the next committee of the whole board meeting on November 2.

The second special board meeting was aimed at continuing the discussion on the proposed superintendent search presented at the 10/19 board meeting. Engaging in a search process was intended to build a superintendent candidate profile through stakeholder input. After receiving overwhelming staff support for current interim superintendent Jessica Lombard via a survey conducted by HEA and HESPA following the 10/19 board meeting, the board agreed to change course and temporarily suspend the superintendent search. Instead, the board’s next step will be to conduct a formal interview with Ms. Lombard.

The board will continue to engage in these important discussions and keep you updated on our progress. Rest assured, while we may not always agree on every issue, each and every board member cares deeply about Huntley 158 staff and students. We all take our roles seriously and understand the critical importance of the decisions that lie ahead.

Thank you for your support.

Sincerely,

Andy Bittman

President, Board of Education
